I walk the courtyard, hand in hand, with the one I love, on these tiles we stand
These courtyard tiles sparkle and shine, reflections on a love divine
No hand lies gentler, more divine, than that which lies entwined with mine
These tiles are ragged, passing straight, but all these years they’ve borne our weight
But look close, a tile is chipped I see, imperfection staring back at me
I laid these tiles haphazardly, but I love you, and you love me
A child’s artwork etched on a tile; stick-figured, ragged crayon smile
And there’s the spot where dolls once laid, on weathered tiles our children played
The sun doth fade what once was new, but it cannot dim my love for you
These tiles we tread hold love between the crevasses and cracks unseen
But look close, a tile is chipped I see, imperfection staring back at me
I laid these tiles haphazardly, but I love you, and you love me
I am no master handy-man, I laid these tiles the best I can
When we are gone, they’ll tread these tiles, God bless stick-figured crayon smiles
But look close, a tile is chipped I see, imperfection staring back at me
I laid these tiles haphazardly, but I love you, and you love me
but I love you and they love you and they love me…..and you love me
